Due to lack of time because of my job, I wasn't able to enjoy my passion of climbing mountains frequently. I'm just available every Sunday, so when there's a Korean holiday I'll definitely plan for a 2-day or even a 3-day hike if it is possible. During my free time, I mean work intervals, I spend time searching different mountains in the Philippines. I love browsing the photos of the mountains in the internet and reading blogs about mountains. Actually, I already have my list of my dream climb in many mountains. Philippines is such a blessed country when it comes to beautiful wonders of nature, specially mountains. The Philippine mountains made me more inspired to climb more of them. Feel free to see my list and feel free to be inspired as well.
MT. GUITING - GUITING
Known for its popular name, G2, is every mountain enthusiasts' dream climb. This popular mountain is located in the province of Romblom, Sibuyan Island is its exact location. I first saw G2 in youtube. In the video a teenage local of Sibuyan was using a rope while descending in the nearly 90 degree angle part of G2. That moment is totally breathtaking thou' the video is just a short clip. After that, I started searching about G2. Most of my researches says that it is the most difficult and technically challenging mountain to climb. In addition, G2 is inhabited with various plants and mystical stories as well. I love mountains with such features. When I saw some photos of the mountain....I was totally...unmoved! It was like a setting in a video game. My favorite spot of the mountain is the Knife Edge. I think it was the most challenging spot of the mountain. As I have mentioned earlier, G2 is located in Sibuyan Island in Romblon. It's my best friend's province. She grew up there....She grew up seeing my dream mountain since she was born until college. And now she's able to visit the place every christmas and summer vacation. I envy people who's just a step closer to a mountain. I envy my bestfriend. How I wish Manila to be mountaneous so I could climb whenever I want.
G2 is one of the reasons why I'm inspired to climb more mountains and to dream big as well. In God's time, I know I would be able to leave my footprints on this mountain.

To stand 2956m above sea level is a lifetime accomplishment. Conquering the highest mountain in the Philippines is something to be proud of. It is located in Mindanao. Its exact location is between Davao City and Davao del Sur and Cotabato. Apo means...ancestor... It's inhabited by 272 bird species including our national bird, The Philippine Monkey - Eating Eagle. Durian abundantly grows here. There's no reason not to include the majestic Apo to my list. In God's time, I know I would be able to leave my footprints on this mountain.

MAKTRAV
MAKTRAV
It seems that Makiling is playing hard to get. But its okay. Maybe the date we set for Maktrav was really not a perfect timing. It was set March 25, 2012. It's summer already but there was a continuous rain showers until March 30 of the same year. The weather is fine at the end of March but Kuya Von told me that it is not advisable to climb Maktrav if it rains 2 days before the date scheduled. Makiling probably muddy and we still have to take care of our shoes, specially mine, since its the only one pair I have and I don't want to use Converse and Ed Hardy shoes as my emergency shoes for the trek. I will definitely summit Maktrav! Yeah! I declared it already. It's not impossible this year unlike my other aspirations.

BANAHAW AND CRISTOBAL
Towering Southern Tagalog is a Holy and a Devil's Mountain. Mount Banahaw is the Holy Mountain and is the highest peak in Southern Tagalog with an elevation of 2158m above sea - level. On the other hand, Mount Cristobal is called Devil's Mountain and is next to Banahaw de Lucban with an elevation of 1415m above sea - level. The two mountains was described by the local people of Quezon as the good and the bad. Positive and negative. Ying and Yang. And being together maintains the balance of its energy. Humans are really blessed with rich imaginative minds. And the mysterious stories about these two mountains are just the product of those creative minds. But then, there's nothing bad in considering those stories.
Unfortunately, Mt. Banahaw was is closed due to inconsiderable act of human towards this mountain. Before, Mt. Banahaw is very popular to any Filipino. It was believed to be the New Jerusalem so it is one of the famous spot during...Semana Santa...Usually, when people went there, they often leave their trace, not only there footprints but their trash. Really unethical. It's sad but it's the truth. Now many hikers like me is just waiting for the opening of this mountain. At first, it was scheduled to be opened this month of March 2012 after the five years of being closed mountain. Unfortunately, it was extended. The Holy Mountain needs more time to heal. What I know is that it was extended for three more years. It's quite a very long time for me who is dreaming to climb this mountain but for those who is...pasaway...they do...backdoor. For me, backdooring is more of a challenge than an illegal doing but I prefer to follow what should be followed.
Fortunately, Mt. Cistobal is just there beside Mt. Banahaw and open to all mountain enthusiast specially those who love adventure, thrill, and horror in their explorations. I get more excited to climb this mountain when I read almost all blogs about this mountain. Really challenging. Facing your own devil. Aigoo! But as always, I pray to have a peaceful climb on this mountain.
